Stephan Elliott's The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is one of the great LGBTQ+ road movies — Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp crossing the Australian Outback to Alice Springs in a purple bus named Priscilla, three drag queens whose journey is funny, moving and honest about the specific joys and difficulties of queer life in the early 1990s. The film's costumes, its warmth and its central trio made it an instant classic.
